San Francisco, CA (PRWeb) January 18, 2007 -- San Francisco has a history as an incubator for new musical movements, and is currently a hotbed of emerging live electronic musical groups. SF's finest musicians, DJs, and visual artists video artists have formed a collective and begun a new monthly event - Shift/Tilt.

Shift/Tilt debuts on January 27, and will continue on the last Saturday of every month at 330 Ritch. The event is hosted by San Francisco Bay Area musical groups Artemis, Beatropolis, Karmacoda, Moped, Return to Mono, and Sutro in conjunction with 92.7's "Below Zero". Collectively, the group saw a need for a night of great live music, visuals and art that showcased artists specializing in performing electronic music live: gifted musicians playing real instruments and live singers singing engaging songs.

Below Zero is excited to join up with the collective Shift/Tilt to help bring together live music along with the sounds of the underground downbeats from it's residents such as, Sinukus, Peek, Red Stick Man, and Didje Kelli. Below Zero brings the down tempo sounds to the Bay Area every Sunday night from 8pm until Midnight on Energy 92.7 FM. http://www.belowzerobeats.com With guest DJ's in every week along with some of the most cutting edge chill tracks, show Host and DJ Mason Rothert takes you on a 4 hour journey.

Musically, Shift/Tilt's sound will be akin to Massive Attack and Portishead vs. Tortoise and Lamb. All of this happens surrounded by a backdrop of amazing local art and cutting edge visual projections. But Shift/Tilt is intended to be about more than music and art. Shift/Tilt creates an upscale, intelligent social ambience where scenesters and jazzheads can comfortably rub elbows while experiencing the most current sounds of San Francisco's underground downtempo movement.

Kicking things off, on Saturday January 27th at 330 Ritch, resident bands Sutro, Return to Mono, and Karmacoda will present an evening of trip-hop/downtempo live electronic nirvana. Each group presents a different facet of the electronic music mélange, but all feature seductive vocals, hypnotic beats and most importantly captivating songs. Below Zero Resident DJ, Peek, will provide chill beats of the underground. A scattershot of collective memories will be projected by VJ Method Man and VJ AJ. In addition, the walls will be covered with award-winning art and photographs by special guests. Adding to its allure, the opening event will also function as a CD release for Return to Mono's new album Involution.
