Tucson, AZ (PRWeb) November 29, 2006 -- The Athens Music Foundation has announced an agreement with SubscribeCast Technologies to distribute media content using SubscribeCast's patent-pending subscription podcast application. AthCast.com will deliver recorded concert programming to subscribers as a way to collect charitable donations to benefit the local music community. The Athens Music Foundation is meant to promote, preserve, and perpetuate the rich music heritage in Athens, Ga -- a town that "Rolling Stone" Magazine has rated as the #1 College Music Scene in America.

"We saw an opportunity to combine a cutting-edge technology with a good cause," says AthCast co-founder Brinkley Warren. "We want to evolve the live music experience and empower community participation that makes a positive impact in the World around us."

The podcast is Athens Music on-demand. Fans pay $5.99 per month to subscribe, and then AthCast automatically delivers concert programming to their digital music libraries and iPods. The programming consists of live concerts and backstage interviews that have been recorded, documented, and edited by the Athens Music Foundation's team of dedicated archivists and music journalists.

"The team at the Athens Music Foundation is incredible. Their support of their community coupled with their tremendous love of music is unmatched," said Chris Wolf, SubscribeCast's director of business relations.

SubscribeCast's technology bridges the gap between the pay per file method and podcasting. With the SubscribeCast application, media owners can track subscriber downloads and prevent RSS feed sharing while still providing a seamless podcast experience to their customers.

"We're really glad that we're the first arts-based podcast in the entire
World that gets to use this cutting-edge technology," said Mike Ewing, co-founder of AthCast. "I think we represent a new kind of non-profit whose fundraising presence exists wholly online, but whose impact will be felt off-line. The impact is going to be huge, not only in how this new technology redefines non-profit fundraising, but also in how the technology will democratize content distribution of all kinds -- really cool stuff."

SubscribeCast's application is fully scalable and allows content providers the flexibility to host and maintain subscriptions and content from their own servers. Subscribers pay for their subscription at AthCast.com and then receive their RSS feed immediately. The site also includes concert profiles for fans to help document the Athens music scene by uploading concert photos, show reviews, and voting for the best concerts.

SubscribeCast is looking forward to making their proprietary technology accessible to content producers of all kinds, and both groups of entrepreneurs plan to continue to collaborate on larger projects in the future.

"The guys at Subscribecast are fantastic innovators," says AthCast's Brinkley Warren. "They've figured out how to monetize a brand new technology. We're proud to be pioneering this new technology and working with such a great team of energetic minds. Of course our big picture goal is to unleash creative empowerment and create a new marketplace where the technology unites communities and delivers value to everyone."
