New York, NY (PRWeb) December 12, 2006 -- BreakThru Radio (BTR), the Internet's voice of the World's Best Independent Music, announced today that it will air a new weekly show entitled, "BTR Live Studio," where local bands from New York City record exclusive live sessions at Blue Ribbon Studios in Manhattan, airing every Tuesday.
Hosted by BTR's Program Director Maia Macdonald, the first show features The Inner Banks, a band that combines sounds of American folk and electronica to reinvent the contemporary New York sound. Their performance on BTR marks the first live recording session since the release of their debut album The Inner Banks. Macdonald sat down with the band for an interview before they recorded the session to find out about the new album.
"The Inner Banks' recently released debut album and live shows in New York City have really impressed me," she said. "They represent incredible musicianship and creativity, and blur the lines between folk, electronica, and Americana. I thought they would be an ideal group to feature on our first episode."
"BTR Live Studio" is recorded from The Blue Ribbon Studios (http://www.blueribbonrestaurants.com/BRSound/ in downtown Manhattan. Upcoming performances include One Ring Zero, Mascott , A Brief Smile, and The Undisputed Heavyweights. "BTR Live Studio" marks the second live performance show featured on BreakThru Radio. "Live From Monsterland," now hosted by DJ Jeff is recorded from Monsterland Studios in Brooklyn. Past guests have included The Slits, Dave Deporis, Man In Gray, and more.
"I'm very excited about this show. BTR Live Studio will feature live music and interviews with a diverse roster of up and coming New York musicians," Macdonald said. "Listeners will be exposed to some incredible new talent, and it's a pleasure to bring artists into Blue Ribbon Sound -- a subterranean lower Manhattan recording studio with a warm and inspiring atmosphere."
